We'll label Organic certified coffees as such, when available on our website.
Not all of our coffees are certified or labelled "Organic".
There may be a number of reasons why this is the case:
We work and get a number of our coffees from a few cooperatives and small holder farmers, who may not be able to afford the certification (or paying to obtain a piece of paper may not be their best interest at the time). The certification process for organic (and similarly for Fairtrade coffees) can be a hefty additional cost to farmers, many of whom cannot afford to get the certification.
That said, it doesn't mean that they are lacing their plantations with herbicides and pesticides. Majority of the small scale farmers carry out organic farming practices, which is in their land's best long-term interest.
If you'd like to find out more about each coffee and the farms that produce them, you may get these information on each individual coffee's page. If you have any further questions about them, please get in touch!
